She completed her Degree in Psychology at the Psychology Department of AUTh in 1996. She continued her studies at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, as a scholar of the Dutch Government, where she specialized in Health Psychology. At the same time she completed her Doctorate thesis on the effects of patient-doctor communication in the prognosis and treatments of physical illnesses. In 2001 she came to the Medical School of Aristotle University as a Post Doctorate associate, with on a scholarship from the European Union, aiming at studying and preventing the burnout syndrome among health professionals. From 2003-2005 she taught at AUTh Medical School, where she was appointed as a Lecturer in 2005. In 2003 she designed the “Communication Techniques” subject, which was included as a compulsory subject in the Postgraduate Syllabus and as an elective in the Graduate Degree Programme of the Medical School of Thessaloniki. At the same time she taught the specific subject in the training programme for Medical School Trainers. She is a founding member and President of the Association for the Research of Communication in the Healthcare Sector. She is a member of the Administrative Council of the European Health Psychology Society and of the Educational Committee of the European Communication Association in the healthcare sector. She has coordinated numerous seminars and training courses in Greece and abroad on doctor-patient communication. She has authored 23 publications in scientific journals and more than 50 announcements at conferences.
